A Marco Island Elopement | Michaela & Brendan Laskey
While you can find me most days photographing families and newborns, I do love me an elopement. I find myself loving elopements and micro-weddings (weddings that consist of 20 people or less read more about it here), the intimacy and connection between two people is unmatched. And being the one to capture all of that for this couple and their family to cherish is truly an honor.
In December 2022, I had the honor of documenting Michaela and Brendan and their elopement on Marco Island. After Hurricane Ian wrecked Southwest Florida and it’s beaches, I reached out to them in the days after the storm to 1. make sure they were okay and 2. touch base on their elopement. There were so many unknowns and it was important to me to keep in touch with my clients, especially ones who were planning huge milestone events. Thankfully, the beach they were planning on getting married on was relatively unharmed and all of their other venders were still on board. Truly a blessing since so many weddings had to be diverted to other locations, dates or completely moved out of the state.

With all of my couples, I the time to learn more about them. What do they love to do together, how they met, how they are as a couple and how do they want to portray their love. This helps me get emotionally in tune with them. I learn what I can and can’t do with them from a directing and photographic standpoint. Emotional intelligence is key to amazing photos!

Michaela & Brendan, thank you so much for having me be apart of your day. It was truly an honor.
