Full Photography Sessions vs. Mini Snapshots - Which Clicks with You?
Photography sessions offer a wonderful opportunity to capture precious moments and create lasting memories. However, it might be difficult to know which option is best for you and your family. So here I am, to spill all of the differences between a full photography session and a mini photography session to make the best choice for you and your family. Below we’re gonna explore the contrasting features of these two types of sessions, allowing you to choose the one that best suits your needs.
Difference #1: Duration
Full Photography Session: A full session typically lasts for 60 minutes, providing ample time for capturing a variety of family, different group combos, indivdual portraits all posed, lifestyle and documentary style images for a complete gallery.
Mini Photography Session: On the other hand, a mini session is shorter, mine run for 15 minutes and are booked back to back. We’re here to get the Christmas card photos and a new more for framing, but our main focus is to capture the highlights.
Difference # 2:Number of Photos
Full Photography Session: With a full session, clients can expect to receive either 25 or 60+ images, depending on the chosen package. This provides a generous selection of photographs capturing various angles, emotions, and interactions.
Mini Photography Session: In a mini session, clients typically receive around 10 carefully curated images. Although fewer in number, these images are skillfully captured to reflect the essence of the occasion within the limited time frame.
Differnce #3: Location
Full Photography Session: Clients booking a full session have the flexibility to choose their preferred location. This allows for personalization and the opportunity to capture photographs in meaningful settings.
Mini Photography Session: In contrast, mini sessions are pre-planned me, and clients do not have the option to select the location. I carefully choose the location, ensuring efficiency and a smooth workflow for multiple sessions.
Difference #4: Styling
Full Photography Session: You get access to my full client closet and custom style boards.
Mini Photography Session: While I’m always here to help guide you to select the base outfits for you and your family, there just isn’t enough time in between mini sessions to offer my client closet.
Difference #5: Benefits and Advantages
Full Photography Session: Opting for a full session provides more time and a broader selection of images. It allows my clients to relax, become comfortable in front of the camera, and capture a range of emotions and interactions, resulting in a comprehensive collection of memories.
Mini Photography Session: Mini sessions offer a convenient and time-efficient option, perfect for specific occasions or when schedules are tight. They provide clients with a curated selection of images that beautifully encapsulate the essence of the event.
Editing and Retouching: Both full and mini sessions receive the same level of editing and retouching. This ensures consistent quality across all images, regardless of the session type. I want your images to look just as amazing as the next, so just because you book a mini session, doesn’t mean you’re going to be slighted on the editing side of things.
For the kids:
The majority of my families also have children and this can greatly impact your overall session. You know your children the absolute best out of everyone in this world. You know if they are shy with new people. You know if they are slow to warm up. You have seen them become besties with the people at the table next to you. In my best most professional opinion, if you feel like they may be initially very shy and slow to warm up, then a full session is the way to go. By the time the hour is up, most of my littlest clients are sad I’m not going home with you. If you have specific questions relating whether or not you think your kiddo would be okay for a mini vs. a full session, feel free to reach out.
Understanding the differences between full photography sessions and mini photography sessions will really help in choosing the right option for your family’s needs. Whether you prefer a longer, more personalized experience or a shorter, themed (and un-themed) session, both types offer unique benefits and opportunities to capture cherished moments. Feel free to discuss your preferences and requirements with me at any point to make an informed decision and create lasting memories to be treasured for years to come.
